Today, after your early morning cup of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe, well known for having 13 species of primates, and transfer to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will get ready to catch the beautiful sunrise over Lake Kivu right after finishing your morning breakfast. Then, you will take a boat ride to explore the lake’s stunning attractions. On one of the islands, you will enjoy a nature walk where thousands of bats thrive. Lake Kivu also offers a true birding paradise, hosting species such as the cormorant, pied kingfisher, weaver bird, and heron, among others. You will later return for and drive off to Musanze which is roughly a 3 hours drive.
