Mount Bisoke is one of the most popular volcano hikes in Rwanda, famous for its stunning crater lake at the summit. The trail winds through dense bamboo forests and giant lobelias, with frequent golden monkey sightings along the way. The final push rewards hikers with breathtaking views of the emerald-green lake nestled inside the crater.

The highest of the eight Virunga volcanoes, Mount Karisimbi is a demanding two-day trek that includes an overnight camp at 3,800 m. The trail traverses montane forest, bamboo zone, and heathland before reaching the alpine summit. On clear days, the panoramic views across Rwanda, Uganda, and DR Congo are unforgettable.

Known as "The Guide" for its distinctive cone shape, Mount Muhabura straddles the border between Rwanda and Uganda. The steep, rocky ascent is a true test of fitness. Reaching the summit at dawn offers spectacular views of the entire Virunga chain, with Lake Ruhondo shimmering far below.

Mount Sabyinyo — meaning "Old Man's Teeth" in Kinyarwanda — features a jagged, serrated summit where the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and DR Congo meet. The hike passes through beautiful Afro-montane forest rich with birdlife. Reaching the triple-border point is a highlight for many travelers.
